Mark Maitland
Mark Maitland is an investment advisor representative at Maitland Financial Group, a family financial services firm committed to building its clients’ wealth through ownership and to ensuring that each client understands—and is proud of—their financial portfolio. In his work, Maitland values building trust and taking responsibility, as he did in his previous role; Maitland spent more than a decade entrusted with securing the safety of thousands of people all across the United States as a lead installer and inspector on high ropes courses for Project Adventure. He has also taught wilderness survival skills courses as a guide with Adventure Out, and he now marries those lessons learned to his current practice, counseling clients on the 21st century survival skills of financial literacy and planning. Having witnessed a newfound sense of self-sufficiency among those who learned how to build their own shelters or start a fire using only friction, Maitland fosters a similar deep sense of security in his clients by enabling their greater understanding and ownership of long-term financial planning.
Maitland has passed the investment advisor representative exams, including the Series 7 and Series 66. In addition, he has benefitted from significant informal education on retirement planning and Roth IRAs from his mother, Barbara Maitland, founder of Maitland Financial Group. He holds a B.S. from Springfield College, where he was Pilgrim League Lacrosse Rookie of the Year. Among his priorities at Maitland Financial Group are helping clients fully fund their retirement accounts, dispelling myths and assumptions that may keep people from considering a broader palette of investment options and guiding those interested in socially impactful investing. He is also a licensed health, accident, and life insurance producer. When he is not busy working, he enjoys beekeeping, surfing, competitive sailing, and brewing honey kombucha. He resides with his wife, Rachael, in Salem, Mass.
